Obituary for
Ronald Philip Candage
Ronald Philip Candage, age 86, died peacefully at Hospice Care Center, Ormond Beach, surrounded by his family on Sept. 10, 2017.
Ronald was born in Blue Hill, Maine to the late Brooks and Lucy Candage. He graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1949 and was proud to be captain of the state champion basketball team in 1948. After graduation he enlisted in the Army and enjoyed his work in the Army Security Agency. He served in Korea and Okinawa and was discharged as a staff sergeant.
He married Ferol Bisset in 1954 and they were blessed to share 63 years of marriage. Upon graduating from MVTI in Portland, Maine he and Ferol moved to Gallion, Ohio where he worked at North Electric Telephone Company. Then they were off to Bangor, Maine where he worked as chief engineer at Channel 2 Television.
In 1966, he was offered a job at General Electric in Utica, New York, enjoying his career in engineering. In 1972, he was fortunate enough to move to General Electric in Daytona Beach, where he retired in 1991 after 35 years.
Ronald was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder and enjoyed several years singing in the choir and playing first base on the church softball team. He was active in scouting and youth baseball. Ronald was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was a proud member of the Korean War Vets chapter 189 in Port Orange.
He is survived by his wife Ferol; three sons, Jeffery, Timothy (Cathy) and Barry (Luz); and six granddaughters, Angela (Allan) Parra, Lauren (Joey) Sita, Morgan Candage, Taylor(Rudy) Aleman, Tiffany Candage, Kellie Candage and Andre Rodridquez. He was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren, Liam Parra, Kieran Parra and Adella Rose Sita. He is survived by a brother Harvard (Linda).
There will be a "celebration of Life" service at 11am September 23, 2017 with Military Honors at Christ Presbyterian Church Ormond.
The family also suggests that those attending wear red, white, and blue in honor of our fallen Veteran,
