Thomas Henry Hughes, 82 of Daytona Beach, passed away on February 14, 2017 at his residence. A Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Saturday February 18, 2017 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona with the Rosary being said at 5:30pm and a Vigil service being held at 6:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00am on Monday February 20, 2017 at The Basilica of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach. Thomas Hughes was born on April 10, 1934 in Allen Park, Michigan to the late Thomas and Eva Hughes. He attended the University of Detroit and then graduated with an MBA from Indiana University. He served his country for twelve years in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to this area in 1985 and was owner/operator of “Caring Cleaners” in Daytona Beach for over 30 years. Thomas was a member of The Basilica of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where he was very involved and a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic War veterans and the Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Phyllis; four children, Jay (Dawn) Hughes of Dexter, Michigan, David (Kelly) Hughes of Jackson, Michigan, Duane (Joyce) Hughes of Saline, Michigan and Staci (Ken) Gassman of Lake Orion, Michigan; and eleven grandchildren, Daniel Hughes, Michael Hughes, Christopher Hughes, Cara Hughes, John Hughes, Brian Hughes, Jesse Hughes, McKenna Gassman, Kendall Gassman, Jamison Palmer and Darin Lee.. Memorial Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
