Obituary for Warren E. Drury

Warren E.  Drury
Warren Edwin Drury Jr. of Ormond Beach died on Thursday November 24, 2016 after a short illness. Born at home in West Newton, Massachusetts, he graduated from Georgia Tech in 1952 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. Warren was active in ROTC and after graduation served stateside as a Captain in the Korean War with The Army Ranger Airborne division at Fort Benning. Upon his discharge from the army he was employed by Sikorski Aircraft of Stratford Connecticut where he met his wife of 60 years, Joan Baer Drury (deceased). He advanced to Technical Sales Manager, and until his retirement he traveled the world in technical support of the company’s sales department as they obtained contracts for helicopters from both private companies and governments worldwide. Prior to his retirement, Warren was involved in Civitan International and the Rotary Club, was a past Grand Master Mason in the King Hiram Lodge, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Huntington, Connecticut and Church of the Good Shepard in Shelton, Connecticut.
Upon retirement, he moved to Ormond Beach and became active with several local organizations including Sons of the American Revolution, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, The American Legion, Daytona Beach Men’s Garden Club, Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge, Halifax River Yacht Club, Halifax Urban Ministry, St. James Episcopal Church in Ormond Beach and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. He enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife and learning about the cultures of many people. A quiet and humble man, he enjoyed serving his family and his community.
Warren is survived by his daughter Debra Lee Nelson of Fairfax Station, Virginia and her husband Michael P. Nelson, their seven children, and nine grandchildren. His son Warren Edwin Drury III of Snellville Georgia, his wife Nancy Jane Drury, their two sons and one grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Monday November 28, 2016 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday November 29, 2016 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Daytona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in his memory.
